Locomotives in Pakistan, Cambodia and Vietnam

We’d like to thank photographer Ian D. Silvester for his contributions to steamlocomotive.info. The image below of a Pakistani steam locomotive is particularly nice.

So far we’ve received images of 21 locomotives from Ian and are very grateful for his help. More of Ian’s photos can be see here

Interesting Museum Display

Daniel SIMON’s photo of SNFC (NORD) 2-8-0 140A259 at the French National Railway Museum in Mulhouse, France is one of the more interesting museum displays I’ve seen of late.

DR 2-8-2 No. 22.075

Photographer Gordon Thomas has contributed photos of 79 locomotives (so far) to http://www.steamlocomotive.info and we sincerely appreciation his contributions. Yesterday we received the image below of a DR 3 cylinder 2-8-2.  It isn’t uncommon to see photos of disassembled steam locomotives, but I’ve never seen one quite like this:

The Webmaster’s Log Returns

In February, when we moved steamlocomotive.info to a new hosting company, there was a lot of turmoil, and a number of things didn’t work terribly well. This was not the fault of the hosting provider but rather a lack of time, energy and willingness to work on the code that creates this website.

Now that the dust has settled, we’re off and running. The old Webmaster’s Log had a number of interesting posts, but the software on which it ran (B2Evolution) hadn’t been updated in over a year and apparently was no longer supported. In our new world here, I didn’t want to support and patch blogging software, so we chose a hosted solution with WordPress and are quite pleased with what it gives us.

If you’re interested in what’s going on with our website, and what new and interesting things we learn of, this would be a good place to visit.

Regards,

Doug Bailey, Webmaster
